Captain's meeting with the Deputy Minister of Commercial Shipping, Stefanos Ghika, for the Port Departments in Agiokambos and Stomio
Larissa Member of Parliament of New Democracy, Christos Kapetanos, held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Commercial Shipping, Stefanos Ghika.
At the heart of the discussion were issues concerning the improvement of the operation and the fuller staffing of the port units of the region, specifically the Port Department of Agiokampou and the Port Station of Stomio.
Mr. Captain highlighted the challenges faced by the port authorities of the Larissa region, pointing out the need for:
• Further reinforcement of personnel, in order to fill vacancies that will support their effective operation.
• Addition of modern port facilities, with the aim of ensuring rapid and efficient action in emergency situations.
In the discussion, the pivotal role of the Coast Guard in the protection of the coasts, navigation and the safety of citizens was emphasized, while the importance of supporting the local port units in areas such as Agiokambos and Stomio, which are tourist and shipping hubs of Larissa, was underlined .
Mr. Stefanos Gikas assured that the Ministry of Commercial Shipping carefully examines the requests, prioritizing the strengthening of human resources and the supply of additional means.
In his statement, Christos Kapetanos said:
"The Coast Guard is the heart of the Greek coast guard and its reinforcement is decisive for the security of our coasts and the protection of our marine wealth. I will continue to work consistently to support the port forces in Larissa prefecture, ensuring that their needs are heard and met at a central level.
The struggle of the men and women of the Coast Guard in securing our coastlines and protecting our maritime borders from illegal immigrant smugglers deserves our gratitude."
This meeting is part of the initiatives of the Member of Parliament of Larissa, to strengthen the local infrastructure and to promote solutions for the better service of the sea coasts of the prefecture of Larissa.
